China-is racing for zero emission transprot_urban mobility beyond cars

China's transport sector emitted 9.46 million tons of CO2 in 2022,  accounting for 9% of national total carbon emissions (IEA, 2023c). This  makes China the world's second largest transport carbon emitter only  after the U.S. Urban mobility represents a major emission source of  China’s road transport, which contributes about 80% of China’s transport  carbon emission and about 7% of China’s national total carbon emission.  Therefore, zero emission transformation of urban mobility is critical for  China to achieve its carbon goals.
